Maggie Sawkins won the 2013 Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry for her live literature production, Zones of Avoidance.  She lives in Portsmouth where she runs creative writing projects in community and health care settings. In 2003 she set up Tongues&Grooves the popular poetry and music club.  Her poetry collections include Charcot’s Pet, The Zig Zag Woman, and Zones of Avoidance.
